Former UNC Basketball player Danny Green plans to return to the Memphis Grizzlies very soon from a severe left knee injury.

Of all the players on the 2009 championship UNC Basketball roster, who had Danny Green being the player that continues to make an impact in the NBA? Next question, who had Green having three NBA Championships on his resume? Be honest.

Not bad for the second-round pick, number 46 overall.

Eight months ago, Green suffered a severe left knee injury. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Green plans to return on February 1st versus the Portland Trailblazers.

The Philadelphia 76ers traded Danny Green and the No. 23 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft to the Memphis Grizzlies. Green injured his knee when he was with the 76ers and has continued his rehabilitation after being traded. While some veterans with 3 championships might have shut it down and retired, not Green. He still wants to contribute.

Green will join a Grizzlies team that is second in the Western Conference and has big goals of reaching the NBA Finals. They have to be thrilled that they are adding a proven veteran, winner, and champion to their roster.

While he is yet to play this season, Green did sign a television deal with ESPN back in October. Maybe giving a hint of his future plans whenever he retires. Tar Heel fans will appreciate that he wants to follow in the steps of Stuart Scott.

"“When I’m done playing, it’s something that I always wanted to venture out into,” Green said after signing the deal. “This an opportunity to build a resume and can get some reps. When I thought I wasn’t going to make it in basketball, I wanted to be like him (Scott).”"
