The UNC women’s basketball program is set to host the Yellow Jackets, in hopes of continuing their dominant play at Carmichael Arena.

After four straight fantastic wins, the UNC women’s basketball program looks to make it five Sunday, when Georgia Tech visits Carmichael Arena.

The Yellow Jackets come into this game at 10-9 and following their first ACC win of the year. Despite their record, they have played teams like Louisville, Duke, and Miami very closely.

However, it will take a lot to stop this red-hot North Carolina squad. With hopes of continuing their win streak, here is what UNC will need to do.

Key to Victory

After a long and tough stretch of games, Georgia Tech should be a fairly easy opponent. If North Carolina can continue their elite play Sunday, they should win big.

Tech is vulnerable defensively in two spots. Transition and on the perimeter.

In transition, the plan should be fairly simple. Push the ball out in front and get to the hoop. UNC can jump out to a big lead if they can capitalize on these shots.

On the perimeter, pump fakes will be key. In the games I have watched, Georgia Tech is very undisciplined when closing out on shooters. A simple pump fake will have them flying in the air and will open up a lane inside.

Again, if the Tar Heels can stay disciplined and continue to play at their top-tier level of play, they should come out with a victory.

Something to Watch

After falling behind early on, a win Sunday could be very important for North Carolina in the ACC standings.

UNC is seventh in the conference with a 4-3 record. A win, and a loss from Virginia Tech, will help the Tar Heels move up a spot in the overall standings.

As we’re getting closer to the end of the regular season, this should be something to monitor each week. A top seed will be huge in the ACC tournament and March Madness seeding.

Last Meeting

In their last meeting, Georgia Tech shut down North Carolina. The Tar Heels were only able to score 38 points as they lost, 55-38.

Georgia Tech was outstanding defensively, holding UNC to shoot 29% from the field and 23% from three, and only allowing one player to score in double digits.

The Tar Heels fell to 15-3 on the year, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 15-4.

All time, North Carolina leads the series 60-20.
