UNC Basketball: Cam Johnson Comes Up Big In Return
By Aaron Conrad
Former UNC Basketball standout Cam Johnson came up big in his return from injury for the Phoenix Suns last night.
UNC Basketball fans are very familiar with the impact that Cam Johnson has on a basketball team. For 37 games, the Phoenix Suns have been without the former Tar Heel as he was working his way back from a knee injury. Last night he made his return.
The Suns tweeted this comment from Head Coach Monty Williams.

Johnson finished the game with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 steal. He played a total of 22 minutes in his first game back. The Suns beat the Nets 117 to 112.
Johnson came off the bench in his first game back. Prior to his injury, he was in the starting role this season. Johnson was averaging 13 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He was injured on November 4th.
Johnson will be a restricted free agent at the end of this season. The Suns can match any offer he receives in free agency.
Primarily the sixth man entering this season, Johnson has been worthy of the high draft pick in his three seasons with the Suns. In the sixth-man role with a very talented team, Johnson raised his average each season and finished last season at 12.5 points per game.
The crowd was electric in his return and he responded by giving them even more to cheer about.
This is an important addition to the Suns who had previously lost 12 of their last 14 games. They are 22-24 on the season and currently ranked 11th in the Western Conference. A healthy Cam Johnson will go a long toward helping Phoenix get their season going in the right direction. They return to action on January 21st versus the Indiana Pacers.
