UNC Basketball returned to the Dean Smith Center and got another win 72-64 over the Boston College Eagles. These are some random observations.

A win is a win.

Good to see Pete Nance return tonight. The length of that injury was beginning to become alarming. While not his best performance, the added depth in the frontcourt is needed.

Speaking of the frontcourt, Jalen Washington sat out the game with a sprained ankle. Hopefully, this is a minor injury and not something that takes him out for too long. He was just beginning to find more time in the rotation.

D’Marco Dunn and Puff Johnson were the first two substitutions tonight off the bench. Seth Trimble got a few minutes in the first half as well.

Tyler Nickel got a brief look in the second half. He knocked down his first three but it was wiped out by an offensive foul off the ball. He missed the next one from the exact same spot moments later.

This team will go as RJ Davis and Armando Bacot go. Each time BC cut into the lead, shots by Davis and Bacot would extend the lead back out again. Down the stretch, the Tar Heels leaned on Bacot to salt this one away.

After getting some minutes versus Louisville, Dontrez Styles did not see any game action tonight.

While the last two games may not have been the kind of blowout wins we all thought they would be on paper, the Tar Heels have done what they needed to do and won them both.

I am still not convinced that the bench and roles are solidified but we are at least getting spot looks for more players. This will be critical when the calendar turns to late February.
