The former UNC basketball standout has been out for over two months due to injury.

Cam Johnson appeared to be on track for a career year at the start of the season.  The Pennsylvania native and former UNC basketball standout was named an everyday starter for the first time in his career, and the Suns were off to a hot 6-1 start to the year.

However, on November 4th against the Trail Blazers, Johnson left the game with a knee injury that would sideline him for over two months.  The diagnosis was a torn meniscus, and the former Tar Heel has not seen the court since.

Luckily for Cam and the Suns, it appears that is going to change tomorrow night.

The sharp-shooting forward is expected to return to the floor on Thursday night against the Brooklyn Nets.  This is a major boost for the Suns, as Johnson was averaging 13 points and shooting over 40% from deep prior to his injury.

Since the injury to Johnson, the Suns have gone 15-23.  This is also due in large part to injuries to Chris Paul and Devin Booker (who has missed the last month and is still dealing with a groin issue).

Phoenix has dropped all the way to 12th in the Western Conference since Johnson last took the floor, and having him back will be a huge boost to the Suns’ playoff chances.

Tomorrow night, Johnson’s return to the floor will be broadcast nationally on TNT.  Tar Heel fans can tune in to watch Cam, prior to watching his brother (Puff) and the current UNC team take on NC State on Saturday afternoon.
