UNC Basketball senior center Armando Bacot has been named the ACC Player of the Week for the second time this season.

As anticipated, UNC Basketball senior center Armando Bacot continues to collect a number of awards in his final season with the Tar Heels. Bacot has been named the ACC Player of the Week for the second time this season.

For the week, Bacot averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. The Tar Heels won both of their games last week beating Wake Forest 88-79 and Notre Dame 81-64.

As we have stated, the Tar Heels began the season as the pre-season number-one ranked team in the AP polls. They quickly fell from the polls after losing four games in a row to Iowa State, Alabama, Indiana, and Virginia Tech. Since that losing streak, UNC has won six out of seven. They are 11-5 on the year and 3-2 in the ACC.

There is no coincidence that the season has gone as Bacot has gone. Early on, he was dealing with a few injuries to the point that he had to sit out the game versus Virginia Tech. He continues to play his way back into shape and through those injuries. One thing he gives the Tar Heels is his best, no matter how he feels physically.

It should also be noted that Bacot is seeing double and triple teams as soon as he touches the ball. His 4.5 assists average speaks to his awareness of the double teams and his teammates’ ability to knock down the shots when he passes out of them.

We are confident that Bacot will continue to collect awards and recognition this season as long as he stays healthy.
