UNC Basketball: More History for Armando Bacot
By Aaron Conrad
UNC Basketball senior Armado Bacot continues to leave his imprint on the Tar Heels rich history after the 100-67 win versus Citadel.
Armando Bacot continues to leave his name and mark all over the UNC Basketball history books.
During tonight’s 100-67 win over Citadel, Bacot became the all-time leader in double-figure rebounding games. He passed Billy Cunningham’s 61 games as he notched his 62nd. Bacot finished the game with 11 rebounds and 14 points. He was able to rest for a better part of the second half with the game much in hand.

For the game, UNC Basketball looked much better. While the quality of opponent was not as gifted as many of the teams that the Tar Heels have played so far this season, the ball movement was better. Bacot looked more assertive and there looked to be intent on getting him the ball in the paint where he is most effective. He nearly had a double-double in the first half.
As we witnessed last season, the Tar Heels need Bacot to be a dominant force in the paint. With more attention being given to spreading the floor and three-point shooting, Bacot will need to shoulder much of the rebounding responsibility.
The longevity of his time in Chapel Hill, and the continued improvement and conditioning of his body have all contributed to the well-deserved results he continues to earn. While he began the season a bit dinged up with an ankle injury and shoulder issue, tonight was the first night he really looked like the player he was last season.
The Tar Heels face a tough back-to-back stretch of games against Ohio State and Michigan. It’s good to know they can count on Bacot to continue doing what he has always done.
Congratulations Armando!
