UNC Basketball faces another tough road game today at Virginia Tech. The question of if this team can “flip the switch” and when still remains.

The No. 18 ranked UNC Basketball program travels to Virginia Tech for its first ACC game of the season. The crowd will be ready and loud. The Hokies will be prepared and will battle.

Will the Tar Heels?

Coming off three straight losses, it is safe to say that the Tar Heels need a win. In a two-week span, they have gone from the number one ranked team in the country to likely out of the top 25 when the polls come out this week. That is not ideal but it’s also something we have seen before.

Does anyone remember the 2021-2022 season?

We’re just one year removed from the start of Coach Hubert Davis’ coaching career when the games were ugly, the final score was unexpected and we were all frustrated. It is important to remember that Coach Davis and most of this team took us on a run that we will never forget. It took half of the season but at some point, a flip was switched.

I think I speak for most fans when I say that I would much rather see this team do the same thing and do it starting today. I also think I speak for all fans when I say that talent is not the question.

In the midst of the frustration, there is also the belief, the hope, and maybe even more talent coming.

Washington will help. A healthy roster will help. The winter break will help. Practice time will help.

Now is the time.

This isn’t about rankings. What is important is that this UNC Basketball team starts to embrace the Carolina Way once again. Play hard. Play smart. Play together.

Start today.
