It’s still very early in the season but after seven games, the top two leading three-point shooters by percentage points for the UNC basketball program might surprise you.

It’s November but December is just a few days away.

The UNC Basketball team is currently 5-2 after a disappointing 1-2 finish in Portland. The Tar Heels continue to try to find the magic that took them all the way to the National Championship game last season versus Kansas. While there are several things that are concerning at this point, the tweet below from Trevor William Marks might be the most alarming.

If you had Pete Nance and Leaky Black as the top three-point shooters this season on your predictions, congratulations. My guess is that many if not all of us did not.

Nance has been good in a majority of the games and it’s great to see Black taking shots because they are leaving him open. However, for this team to be successful, they will need Caleb Love and RJ Davis to hit north of 30%. Right now they are not.

Again, there are several warning signs at the moment and no one wants to overreact after seven games. The strength of last year’s incredible run came from the shot-making of Davis and Love. It is hard to know why the ball is not going in the basket.

Could it be tired legs from playing the majority of the minutes?
Is it poor shot selection?
Is it that the threes are being contested due to the lack of ball movement?
It really is something that cannot be explained at this point.

It does have to be better if this team wants to achieve the goals they have stated.

UNC Basketball takes on Indiana on Wednesday night. Let’s hope those percentages for Love and Davis start to climb.
