Find out how the teams on the UNC football schedule fared during the final week of the regular season.

North Carolina came up just short against NC State on Friday afternoon, losing on a missed field goal in double overtime.  The Tar Heels will head into the ACC Championship Game on a two-game losing streak after a promising 9-1 start to the season.

While the UNC football program hasn’t played its best football in recent weeks, they are still just sixty minutes away from its first ACC Championship of the century and a likely Orange Bowl appearance.

Outside of Chapel Hill, there was plenty of other drama across the country during Rivalry Week, as we present to you the final schedule report of 2022.

Up Next

Clemson Tigers (ACC Championship Game)

Clemson entered the weekend with a very real shot to make the College Football Playoff if they could win out and get a little bit of help from the teams above them.

However, that all came to a shocking halt when the Tigers were upset on their home turf by the rival South Carolina Gamecocks.  Clemson led early but struggled mightily on offense behind a poor day from QB DJ Uiagalelei, who threw for just 99 yards and completed only 8 of 29 pass attempts.

The loss ended a seven-game win streak over the Gamecocks and a 40-game home winning streak for Clemson.  Both the Tigers and the Tar Heels will enter Charlotte coming off of heartbreaking losses to their rivals.  Whoever can turn the page and avoid a hangover will have an edge on Saturday night.

Result: 31-30 Loss vs South Carolina (10-2, 8-0 in ACC)

Looking Back

Florida A&M Rattlers

The Rattlers finished their season with a 9-2 record, ending the season on a nine-game winning streak.

They were left out of the FCS Playoffs.

Result: End of Season (9-2, 7-1 in SWAC)

Appalachian State Mountaineers

The Mountaineers lost a thriller against Georgia Southern, falling short in double overtime.

Even though they finished the season 6-6, they will not be playing in a bowl game due to the fact that two of those wins came over FCS opponents.

Result: 51-48 Loss (2OT) @ Georgia Southern (6-6, 3-5 in Sun Belt)

Georgia State Panthers

The Panthers came up short at Marshall in the last game of their season this weekend.

The loss marks the end of an underwhelming season for a team that won a bowl game last year.

Result: 28-23 Loss @ Marshall (4-8, 3-5 in Sun Belt)

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Fighting Irish could not pull off the upset at Southern Cal on Saturday night.

Heisman Trophy favorite Caleb Williams was too much for Notre Dame, as he had four touchdowns (with three coming on the ground).

The Irish will still head to a solid bowl game after they had a nice midseason turnaround following an 0-2 start.

Result: 38-27 Loss @ USC (8-4)

Virginia Tech Hokies

The Hokies’ final game against UVA was canceled as a result of the tragedy in Charlottesville last week.

Virginia Tech finished its season with a one-point victory against Liberty last Saturday.  They will not be playing in a bowl game.

Result: Game Canceled (3-8, 1-6 in ACC)

Miami Hurricanes

The ‘Canes had a disastrous ending to a disastrous season as they were blown out on their home field by Pitt on Saturday.

After starting 2-0, the preseason Coastal favorites finished 3-7 down the stretch and will not be playing in a bowl game.

Result: 42-16 Loss vs Pittsburgh (5-7, 3-5 in ACC)

Duke Blue Devils

The Blue Devils won an exciting game over Wake Forest on their Senior Day this weekend.

Duke has exceeded expectations more than any team in the ACC, and they will be playing in a solid bowl game as a result.

Result: 34-31 Win vs Wake Forest (8-4, 5-3 in ACC)

Pittsburgh Panthers

Pitt blew the doors off of Miami on Saturday night and finished off an undefeated month of November in the process.

The Panthers won out following their late-October loss to UNC in Chapel Hill and will look to end the season on a five-game winning streak in their bowl game.

Result: 42-16 Win @ Miami (8-4, 5-3 in ACC)

Virginia Cavaliers

Virginia’s game against Virginia Tech was canceled as a result of last week’s tragic incident at UVA.

The Cavaliers’ final two games were canceled and they will not be playing in a bowl game.  Our staff at Keeping It Heel has those impacted by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers.

Result: Game Canceled (3-7, 1-6 in ACC)

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Wake lost again at Duke this weekend, as they finish the regular season losing four out of their last five.

The Demon Deacons will look to end the year on a high note in their bowl game.

Result: 34-31 Loss @ Duke (7-5, 3-5 in ACC)

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Georgia Tech put up a solid fight against top-ranked Georgia on Saturday, as they trailed by just three points at halftime in Athens.

The Bulldogs took control in the second half, however, and secured the victory and ended Georgia Tech’s bowl game hopes in the process.

Nonetheless, Interim Head Coach Brent Key did a phenomenal job of keeping the Yellow Jackets together after the firing of previous head coach Geoff Collins earlier in the season.

Result: 37-14 Loss @ Georgia (5-7, 4-4 in ACC)
