UNC basketball standout Armando Bacot made some interesting comments after the Tar Heels latest victory.

We are two games into the UNC Basketball season and the number one ranked Tar Heels still seem to be putting things together. Last night, Pre-Season ACC POY candidate Armando Bacot had one point and one rebound at halftime. Not ideal against a team that is nowhere near the level of competition that UNC will face in the coming months.

So Bacot made a business decision that was shared by Ross Martin on Twitter.

Throughout the summer, the Tar Heels were praised for their incredible run through the 2021-2022 NCAA Tournament. We all remember the big wins at Cameron Indoor and in the Final Four versus Duke. No one is questioning how well this team played last season. That was last season. Now the Heels enjoy the number one ranking in the country and an overwhelming number of experts choosing them to cut down the nets.

The question has been, are they reading their press clippings? It seemed like the “Summer of Armando” with all of the great opportunities he has earned. Quietly the fear was that the guys would not come back as hungry and fight for what is rightfully theirs. Through two games, those fears have not changed.

Head Coach Hubert Davis was visibly frustrated and likely let them know at halftime. In the second half, Bacot was a different player. He was the last season version of Bacot. He was scrapping and fighting. That is the Bacot and “janitor” that this team will need if they are to achieve their dreams and goals. Many will point to any number of the talented players on this roster but make no mistake, the 2022-2023 redemption tour still runs through the post and Bacot.
