As expected, there are multiple members of the UNC basketball program on the Preseason All-ACC teams.

The Preseason All-ACC teams were announced this evening, and the UNC basketball program is well-represented.

There were two Tar Heels listed on the All-Conference First Team, as both Preseason Player of the Year Armando Bacot and Caleb Love made the cut.  Joining those two on the first team are Miami’s Isaiah Wong, NC State’s Terquavion Smith, and Duke’s Jeremy Roach.

The other Carolina player who received recognition on the all-conference teams was RJ Davis, who made the second team.  Joining him on that list are Virginia’s Jayden Gardner, Duke’s Derrick Lively II, Virginia Tech’s Justyn Mutts, and Clemson’s PJ Hall.

While it is very rare for this to happen on a media poll, there is a legitimate case to be made that the Tar Heel trio of Bacot, Davis, and Love all deserved a spot on the first team.  Nonetheless, it is a huge luxury for Carolina fans to know that three of the expected top ten players in a fifteen-team league are on their squad.

Also of note, while another loaded Duke freshman class (led by Lively II) received most of the votes for ACC Newcomer of the Year, Carolina’s Tyler Nickel, Jalen Washington, and Seth Trimble were also recognized.

If the UNC basketball program puts together the type of season that many are expecting, there is a good chance that there will be plenty of individual accolades to go around for Carolina players at the end of the year as well.
