The UNC Football received a commitment from three-star defensive back Ty Adams, who decided to flip his original commitment from East Carolina.

Ty Adams made his official visit to North Carolina this weekend. By Sunday night, Adams switched his previous commitment to East Carolina to Mack Brown’s Tar Heels. This gives coach Brown his 19th commitment for the class of 2023.

Adams, a 3-star, 5-11, 173-pound defensive back from Swainsboro, GA announced his commitment via social media on Sunday evening.

UNC’s cornerbacks coach Dre Bly is credited with leading the recruitment of Adams. He attended a game one week ago and has continued his recruitment of Adams. He is slated to be a cornerback for the Tar Heels when he arrives on campus.

Back in May, Adam Friedman and Ryan Wright of Rivals Reported the following about Adams at a combine series in Atlanta:

"Adams posted a 4.45 second 40-yard dash, one of the fastest times of the day, and a 6.9 second 3-cone drill. The dynamic 2023 athlete out of Swainsboro, Ga. also posted a 4.1 second 5-10-5 shuttle. Georgia Tech, Middle Tennessee State, Mercer, Georgia Southern and a few other have offered him but Clemson, Iowa State, Florida State, Missouri and Coastal Carolina are just a handful of school showing interest in him. His cousin is Rico Johnson, a former Georgia player from the early 2010s."

He received an official offer from North Carolina and coach Bly back in August. Adams plays quarterback and defensive back for the currently undefeated Swainsboro High School program. Adams told Tar Heel Illustrated:

"“The environment, facilities, and the fan base was amazing,” Adams told THI. “I could visualize myself playing in that stadium on Saturdays.”"
