Former UNC football standout Mack Hollins has locked down the third receiver position for the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Las Vegas Raiders made a big splash this summer when they landed Davante Adams. The move that most that read this site will be excited about actually took place on March 17, 2022. That was the day that the Raiders signed former UNC football standout Mack Hollins.

Hollins impressed many in training camp and during the preseason. To honor his hard work and dedication, the Raiders listed him as their third wide receiver going into week one versus the San Diego Chargers. Hollins had one reception for 16 yards in the Raiders’ 24-19 loss.

Not only did Hollins earn his spot as a starter, but he was also named one of the Team Captains by first-year Head Coach Josh McDaniels.

The truth is that Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was targeting his new Pro Bowl receiver Adams most of the game (17 targets, 10 receptions, 141 yards), but is also true that the Raiders receivers are very gifted with fellow standouts Hunter Renfrow and tight end Darren Waller. This could, however, provide a lot of opportunity for Hollins with the attention those players will receive.

Hollins was a four-year letterman for the Tar Heels from 2013 through 2016. He started all three of his final years in Chapel Hill. He finished his career with 81 receptions for 1,667 yards and 20 touchdowns. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 118th pick in the 4th round of the 2017 NFL draft.

Hollins spent time in Philadelphia and Miami before finding his most recent home in Las Vegas. For his career, Hollins has played in 66 games with 57 receptions, 766 yards, and 6 touchdowns.
