You can now own a pair of UNC basketball Michael Jordan game-worn Converse from the 1981-1982 season but time is running out on the auction.

I got my first pair of Air Jordans when I was in high school. We’re talking about the originals and not the new throwbacks. I paid $69 for the white with red and black ones and my dad simply could not understand how I could spend that much money for shoes! John Erlichman reported this week that Nike currently makes over $3 Million in Jordan sales every 5 hours.

So how much do you think Michael Jordan’s game-worn college Converse are worth?

You have your chance to bid on them right now. The bidding closes on August 28th.

My favorite part of the story by Ben Sherman at Inside Carolina is the quote by the former basketball team manager and freshman roommate of Jordan that he “wore them around campus.”

"He played in them, practiced in them, and wore them around campus.-Chuck Duckett"

Nowadays, players from AAU to the NBA all have their “gamers” and there is no chance they are wearing those shoes outside until the season is over. High school kids are even walking a little odd because they don’t want to crease their new Air Force Ones.

Regardless, Jordan signed this particular pair of shoes and Duckett has committed that half of the proceeds will go back to UNC Basketball. It is always great to see how Jordan is still close to the program and likes to give back.

It has been estimated that the Converse will fetch over $100,000. Bidding closes on August 28th. You can find this auction and bid at the Heritage Auctions site.
