The UNC football program received its third commitment of the month on Wednesday with the addition of linebacker Amare Campbell.

A successful day continues for the UNC football recruiting staff, as the Tar Heels received their second commitment on the afternoon, landing three-star linebacker Amare Campbell. The Manassas, Virginia native picked North Carolina over fellow finalists West Virginia and Maryland.

Campbell becomes the second linebacker pledge for Mack Brown and company in the 2023 recruiting cycle, joining fellow three-star Caleb LaVallee in the Tar Heels’ top-25 class.

According to 247 Sports, Campbell is the No. 38 ranked recruit in the state of Virginia, becoming the fifth Tar Heel commit in the 2023 class from the Commonwealth.

The future Tar Heel took official visits to each of his three finalists over the summer, exploring Chapel Hill on June 24th, the final stop before his commitment.

For a UNC defense that missed out on cornerback Braeden Marshall, who committed to UCF, and Zachary Tobe, who flipped to Illinois, in the last month, this is a big recruiting win.

With the UNC football program bringing in linebackers Sebastian Cheeks and Deuce Caldwell in the class of 2022, they have sustained recruiting success on the defensive side of the ball.

As Paul Billups and Campbell both committed to the Tar Heels on Wednesday, the program’s ‘Jordan Class’ now has 17 players signed up to make their way to Chapel Hill. It’s possible that more can be coming in the near future as well.
