The UNC basketball star will represent the Tar Heels in the Dominican Republic when she competes with Team USA in a 3v3 format.

After participating in the 2022 USA Basketball 3×3 Women’s U23 National Team trials, North Carolina standout Alyssa Ustby has been named to the Team USA roster.

The Rochester, MN native joins the six person team, which is comprised of three ACC standouts. Maddy Siegrist (Villanova) and Ustby are the lone members making their USA Basketball debut.

In her first full season in the starting lineup, Ustby helped guide the Tar Heels to the Sweet 16, their best finish since the 2015 campaign. The rising junior averaged 12.9 points and led Courtney Banghart’s squad in rebounds with 8.7 per game.

Her performance earned her Second Team All-ACC honors, as she finished fourth in the conference in rebounding and second in double-doubles with 13.

With her junior year set to begin later this month, Ustby has one more stop before stepping foot on campus in Chapel Hill.

The Women’s 3×3 U23 roster will take part in training camp from Aug. 9-11 before departing for the FIBA 3×3 Nations League. In what will be the fifth edition of the tournament, Team USA will compete in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from Aug. 13-19.

Ustby and company will compete in the Americas conference, which includes the likes of Argentina, Chile, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela.

Here’s a list of the remaining members of the Team USA Roster:

Aaliyah Moore (Texas)

Maddy Siegrist (Villanova)

Celeste Taylor (Duke)

Kayla Wells (Texas A&M)

Maddy Westbeld (Notre Dame)

With Ustby representing her country abroad, she’ll look to start her junior campaign on a strong note, as the UNC basketball program has high expectations in Banghart’s fourth season in Chapel Hill.
