The UNC football target looks to improve the top-30 class as a commitment date has been locked in along with his list of top schools.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program have been active on the recruiting trail, making waves in the pursuit of multiple targets.

Over the weekend, 2023 defensive lineman Joshua Horton narrowed down his prospective schools to three. The Tar Heels were among the finalists, along with Auburn and UCF.

The three-star recruit also announced that he will be committing to his future school on August 19th.

Horton has officially visited all three finalists with the Tar Heels earning his last visit at the end of June.

Prior to trimming his list, the Fairburn, Georgia native was being pursued by a plethora of Power 5 schools, including Tennessee, Georgia, and Michigan State.

According to 247 Sports, Horton is the No. 96th rated defensive lineman in the class of 2023 and the No. 84 ranked recruit in the state of Georgia.

As the decision day for Horton approaches, do the Tar Heels have an upper hand in his recruitment?

Based on the Crystal Ball predictions, the UNC football program has a reason to be confident. All four predictions have Horton committing to the Tar Heels on August 19th.

Although North Carolina missed out on cornerback Braeden Marshall, the Tar Heels had a successful month on the recruiting trail in July. Six future Heels committed to play in Chapel Hill, moving their recruiting class to No. 26 in the country.

Can the UNC football program add to their already stacked defensive class in 2023?
