The four-star prospect and UNC basketball recruiting target has impressed coaches the past two weeks at the Peach Jam and spoke about his ongoing recruitment this weekend.

TJ Power has been a highly sought-after recruit for a while now, but the rising senior forward has taken his game to a new level recently. He was one of the hottest topics at this week’s Peach Jam AAU Tournament in North Augusta, South Carolina, as college programs across the country are starting to take notice.

The Massachusetts native is currently ranked as the 53rd best player in the Class of 2023 by 247 Sports, but his stock appears to be rapidly rising as a result of his performance over the past two weeks.

After showcasing his well-rounded game in front of some of the biggest names in college basketball, the blue-blood programs have taken notice of Power’s performance.  In the past few weeks, he has earned offers from North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, and UCLA.  Other schools involved in his recruitment include Iowa, Indiana, and Notre Dame.

Power gave reporters a breakdown of the process and provided his thoughts on each of these schools, including the Tar Heels.  When asked about the UNC basketball recruiting team, Power told 247 Sports the following:

"“I got a lot of UNC fans in my family so it was cool to share that moment with them. Coach Davis first year head coach making a national championship and I think there’s a spot for me there to play pretty yearly and do some damage so definitely going to look into that one pretty hard.”"

Tar Heel fans will be encouraged to hear that Power appears to have some Carolina blue in his blood.  The 6-foot-8 forward took notice of the run North Carolina made last March, and clearly believes he could join the program and be a key player for the Heels in the future if he chooses that route.

With the departures of Leaky Black, Pete Nance, and possibly Armando Bacot, the Tar Heels will have some reloading to do at the forward position following the 2022-2023 season.  Power would be a welcome addition to a Tar Heel team that could feature a lot of new faces.

With the recent decommitment of GG Jackson UNC’s 2023 class currently only has one commit, Simeon Wilcher, who has also made the most of his time at the Peach Jam.  Hubert Davis hasn’t wasted any time looking for someone to fill the new spot in his recruiting class and TJ Power is a name for UNC basketball fans to follow as his senior season nears.
