Brady Manek- Charlotte Hornets

Brady Manek earned himself a permanent spot in Carolina basketball lore in just one season at North Carolina, as he helped lead the Tar Heels on a legendary run to the National Championship game.

The Oklahoma native is now looking to find a spot in the NBA and spent the last few weeks alongside former rival and Duke center Mark Williams as a part of the Charlotte Hornets Summer League squad.

Manek came off the bench in all five of the Hornets contests, averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds while playing 14.7 minutes per game.  While these numbers don’t jump off the page, the Hornets were often noticeably better with the former Tar Heel on the court, as he led the team in plus-minus in two of the team’s five games.

Arguably, Manek’s best performance came in his second game against the Los Angeles Lakers, as he was a team-best plus-21 and scored eight straight Hornets points, including two three-pointers during the second quarter.

It is currently unknown if Manek will earn an NBA contract following his stint in the Summer League.  However, North Carolina fans can attest to his ability to quickly assimilate to a new team and know that the sharpshooting big man has NBA-level talent.
