There’s another new name on the UNC basketball recruiting radar.

Class of 2024 prospect Trentyn Flowers is among the best high school basketball players in the nation and the growing list of college programs interested in him is evidence of that.

A 6-foot-8, 180-pound small forward from Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California, Flowers is already in possession of nearly 20 scholarship offers. Included in Flowers’ list of potential landing spots are Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Memphis, Michigan, Tennessee, and Xavier. Recent intel suggests that Flowers is now hearing from the likes of Kentucky, Oregon, North Carolina, Syracuse, Texas Tech, and TCU.

The Tar Heels, in particular, would love to get their 2024 recruiting class started with a player of Flowers’ caliber. He’s a versatile wing with the ability to put the ball on the floor, distribute to teammates, play through contact, and finish in traffic. He’s got a nice vertical that he shows off during powerful dunks as well as great speed in the open court. He’s also a really good shooter from three-point range.

There’s no telling what the Tar Heels’ roster will look like by the time the 2024-25 season comes around but there’s absolutely no circumstance in which the UNC coaching staff wouldn’t want Flowers or any player of his ilk. He’ll be a game-changer at the college level and could be a big difference-maker for a UNC team that’s likely to be fairly young and inexperienced following a probable mass exodus after this season.

Flowers is currently ranked No. 8 overall in his class according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s third among small forwards in the class and No. 2 in the state of California. He’s ranked similarly in the Rivals150 and the ESPN100 at ninth and 13th, respectively.
