March Madness: Game time, TV channel for UNC’s matchup with Baylor
March Madness continues for the UNC basketball program with a second-round game against the top-seeded Baylor Bears.
The North Carolina Tar Heels were merely a bubble team a month ago, but now they’re headed to the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32 following one of the most impressive first-round performances we’ve ever seen from them or anybody else.
A 95-63 victory over the ninth-seeded Marquette Golden Eagles demonstrated just how worthy of this year’s NCAA Tournament the Tar Heels are, and propelled them to a matchup with the East Region’s No. 1 seed, the defending national champion Baylor Bears.
While that might seem like a daunting task, what with the Tar Heels’ recent proclivity for losing to ranked opponents — their game at Cameron Indoor Stadium notwithstanding — they may have actually gotten a lucky draw. That’s because Baylor is down a player in the tournament’s opening weekend and it’s not just any player; its Bears leading scorer LJ Cryer.
And although we wish Cryer all the best in his recovery from the recent foot injury that currently has him sidelined, there’s no denying that this is advantageous for the Tar Heels. Whether or not they are able to truly benefit from his absence is yet to be seen, but a win over Baylor could set North Carolina up nicely as the East Region has already seen the upset and dismissal of No. 2 Kentucky.
North Carolina and Baylor are set to tip-off at 12:10 p.m. EST on Saturday and the game will be televised live on CBS from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Baylor opens up as a 5.5-point favorite over the Tar Heels.
