Seth Trimble, one of three players in the UNC basketball recruiting class of 2022, has been named Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year in the state of Wisconsin.

Seth Trimble is just a few months away from enrolling at the University of North Carolina, as he makes up one-third of the Tar Heels’ 2022 recruiting class. And while I’m certain that Trimble, younger brother of former UNC standout JP Tokoto, is excited to get onto campus, he’s relishing every last game of his high school career at Menomonee Falls.

Trimble has led his team to the WIAA Division 1 State Semifinal round and sits just one win away from an opportunity at capturing a state championship in his final game before joining the Tar Heels. Trimble also picked up some hardware for his individual achievements this season, as he took home the Wisconsin Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year award on Wednesday, recognizing him as the state’s top player.

Trimble, who will be joined by fellow four-star recruits Jalen Washington and Tyler Nickel at UNC in the fall, is averaging 26.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 56.5 percent from the field during his celebrated senior season.

"“Trimble is a strong and sturdy point guard who beats defenders off the dribble and uses his crazy vertical bounce to finish over opponents,” said ESPN’s Paul Biancardi. “He’s special because he can play in an up-tempo game or execute in the half-court, and he’s a great late-game free throw shooter.”"

A 6-foot-3, 184-pound point guard, Trimble had offers from Creighton, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Purdue, Wisconsin, and others before committing to North Carolina last June. He’s the No. 32 prospect in the class of 2022 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s sixth among players at his position and No. 1 in the state of Wisconsin.
