The UNC basketball program is preparing for a difficult test against the Duke Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium while sneakerheads across the globe prepare for the equally tough test of securing the new Air Jordan 6 “UNC.”

The latest in North Carolina Tar Heels-inspired gear is here, as Nike is set to release the Air Jordan 6 “UNC” on Saturday. We’ve seen a number of Jordans over the years that donned the Hall-of-Fame namesake’s college colors, but these could be the most popular yet.

The Air Jordan 6 is the shoe that Michael Jordan wore during the 1991 NBA season when he and the Chicago Bulls won their first of six titles in eight years. This particular reincarnation of the Air Jordan 6 is made up of the signature white and Carolina blue colorway that UNC fans have become so accustomed to seeing on similar sneakers.

The high-top sneaker features a retro Nike label on the heel which reads “quality products inspired by the best basketball player ever” and a Carolina blue Jordan logo on the sole. It’s got an incredibly sleek design for a shoe that has its roots in the early-90s.

Unfortunately, it may be difficult to find this shoe and could be somewhat pricey even if you do. Nike recently confirmed that the shoe will not be sold on SNKRS, as most of the supply was bought up during a surprise drop on Monday, February 21 at a retail price of $210.

Nike fans and collectors may have to look to the secondary market to get theirs, as retail stores are likely to be in short supply, too. So get out there and buy yours fast, or ante up and be ready to pay a premium price for what’s bound to be the season’s most popular shoe.
