As the UNC basketball program continues to navigate this 2021-22 season with their NCAA Tournament hopes on the line, the future of the program is also in the spotlight.

While we don’t know all the departures just yet, it’s expected that UNC is set to lose some key players from the roster for next season. But they do welcome in a 2022 recruiting class that features four players including Will Shaver who is on campus now.

One of those players in 2022 is four-star guard Seth Trimble, a Wisconsin prospect that has had a big final year at Menomonee Falls. He’s also UNC’s highest-ranked prospect in the 2022 class and should be able to compete for a starting spot.

In the 2023 class, UNC has five-star guard Simeon Wilcher committed as well, as they hope to pair the duo together in the backcourt for the future.

On Wednesday, both Trimble and Wilcher were listed as finalists for the Sports Illustrated All-American team this year. The site listed 47 players including 46 seniors and 11 underclassmen for their annual class which will be announced in April.

Trimble is averaging 26.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists so far this season. He’s ranked No. 32 overall, the No. 6 combo guard, and No. 1 player in the state of Wisconsin per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

As for Wilcher, he’s averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists in his junior season. Wilcher is ranked No. 13 overall, the No. 2 combo guard and No. 3 player in the state of New Jersey per the 247Sports rankings for the 2023 class.
