Former UNC basketball star Coby White put together another outstanding performance for the first-place Chicago Bulls on Monday night.

After making it through the NBA trade deadline without a change of scenery, third-year point guard Coby White remains a member of the Chicago Bulls. And at least for the time being, that seems like a pretty good thing for both parties.

With Lonzo Ball out of the Bulls’ rotation for an extended period of time due to a left knee injury, White has started three of the team’s past four games. He’s been solid in each of his recent starts and in the games that he’s come off the bench.

White is averaging 17.7 points per game over his last half-dozen while shooting nearly 49 percent from the floor. Even more impressive is his recent performance from three-point range, where he’s connecting on better than 53 percent of his shots.

Monday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs was just the latest example of that, as the former Tar Heel scored 24 points on a 6-for-11 shooting night that included 5-for-6 beyond the arc. He also converted 7-of-8 free throw attempts to go along with six assists and five rebounds. He turned the ball over just once in 34 minutes of play.

Thanks to White’s superb play, along with 40 points from All-Star forward DeMar DeRozan and 25 points and 16 rebounds from Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls captured a 120-109 victory over the underwhelming Spurs, their 37th of the season.

Whether or not White remains in Chicago beyond this season is yet to be seen, but he continues to perform well, be it as a starter or reserve, and prove to be a valuable asset for the first-place Bulls.
