Saturday night wasn’t a great one for the UNC basketball program as they fell behind early and never recovered against Duke in the Dean Dome.

It was a rough one for Hubert Davis and his team as they fell to 16-7 overall and 8-4 in conference play. While there are 8 regular-season games left and the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, there are a lot of question marks with this program not only this season but the future.

While we won’t have all the answers quickly, the future of the program is in big focus including with recruiting for future classes. UNC has a four-man class coming in next year and Davis is in pursuit of some big targets in the 2023 and 2024 classes. On Saturday, the Tar Heels welcomed in commits and recruits from future classes including Seth Trimble, Tyler Nickel,  and G.G. Jackson.

But another big target was in attendance as well.

In-state forward Jarin Stevenson made another visit to Chapel Hill to watch UNC take on Duke. He was on another unofficial visit as the 2024 prospect wanted another look at the program.

While Jackson is UNC’s top recruiting target regardless of class, Stevenson is also becoming a priority for the Tar Heels. He’s been on campus a few times already in his recruitment, which makes sense because he’s right in their backyard. Stevenson also has some ties to the program as his mother, Nicole Walker Stevenson, played on the women’s team.

The 2024 recruiting rankings have yet to come out but Stevenson should not only be one of the top players in the state but in the country as well.
