The UNC basketball program is gearing up for their big showdown with rival Duke on Saturday night as the No. 9 Blue Devils come to the Dean Dome. It’s another chapter in the greatest rivalry in college sports and it could be a big night for the Tar Heels if they can pull off a victory.

But as UNC will hit the court against their hated rival, their biggest recruiting target will be on a campus this weekend.

Five-star forward G.G. Jackson is set to take another official visit this weekend as he will be on campus at South Carolina. Jackson has had this visit scheduled for a few weeks now and had to make a change due to a potential conflict with his high school playoffs next weekend. By switching to this weekend, he won’t have the chance to hit UNC’s campus for this big game.

That’s disappointing for North Carolina and their pursuit although they do remain in a good spot for him in the recruitment.

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound Jackson is one of the top players in the 2023 recruiting class, earning five-star status. He’s the No. 8 player overall, No. 3 power forward and No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Jackson has a total of 15 offers in his recruitment and has taken visits to UNC, Duke, and Georgetown so far in his recruitment. This will be his fourth official and he could take another for his fifth and final. The recruit does appear to be heading to a decision sometime soon as his dad did reveal they want to be committed before his senior season. The Tar Heels still hold control of the crystal ball predictor on 247Sports, a good sign for them moving forward.
