Mack Brown and the UNC Football program have once again gone to the transfer portal to add some depth to their offensive line. And it’s much needed.

The Tar Heels are losing several pieces this season whether it be to the NFL draft or the transfer portal, including the offensive line. UNC does have a few players coming in with their 2022 recruiting class headlined by five-star offensive tackle Zach Rice, but depth is needed.

On Wednesday, UNC landed another piece from the portal as Harvard offensive lineman Spencer Rolland announced he was transferring to North Carolina:

The 6-foot-6, 285-pound Rolland entered the portal following last season and UNC took advantage by contacting him right away. He then made a trip to Chapel Hill in December where he got to check out the program and what it had to offer. Rolland made one other trip, going to Arizona State, as the decision came down to the Tar Heels and Sun Devils.

Rolland started 20 games on the offensive line for Harvard including all 10 in the 2021 season for the Crimson. He was named first-team All-Ivy League by the league and Phil Steele for his play as he helped lead Harvard’s offense to one of the best in the Ivy League. He was third-team preseason All-Ivy league ahead of the 2020 season which was canceled by the conference.

So far the Tar Heels have landed three players from the transfer portal as Rolland joins Miami offensive lineman Corey Gaynor and Virginia edge rusher Noah Taylor. Both committed to the Tar Heels back in December.
