North Carolina vs Boston College Odds: Line, Spread, Over/Under
The 13-6 North Carolina Tar Heels host the 8-10 Boston College Eagles at 7:00 PM EST tonight. WynnBET has the Tar Heels as 13.5-point favorites and -1000 on the moneyline (bet $100 to win $10) while the over-under is set at 156.
In a matchup between two teams that are just 8-11 and 8-10 against the spread (ATS) on the season, where can we find betting value?
North Carolina vs Boston College Prediction
After two blowout losses in which they failed to cover the spread by a combined total of 51.5 points, the Tar Heels seemed to right the ship in a 10-point win over Virginia Tech their last time out. No stranger to blowouts, Boston College lost to Wake Forest by 30 in their last game and are looking for a Jack Sparrow of sorts to right their ship as well.
For all their struggles on the road, the Tar Heels are a different animal at home. With a perfect 10-0 home record, they’ve covered in five straight home games and won each of those by double digits. Now they get to host an Eagles team that is just 1-5 outright and 2-4 ATS on the road.
North Carolina matches up well with Boston College. They boast the 31st-best adjusted offensive efficiency, per Bart Torvik, and are the 32nd-best 3-point shooting team in the country, making just over 37% of their attempts from beyond the arc. The Eagles rank just 317th in 3-point defense, so the Tar Heels should be able to fire away from deep.
With the 57th-lowest offensive turnover percentage, 3rd-best defensive rebounding percentage and 10th-lowest defensive free throw rate, the Tar Heels do not allow their opponents to get easy baskets through turnovers, second-chance points or freebies at the line.
I just don’t see where the baskets will come from for a Boston College team that ranks a poor 308th in 2-point shooting and 230th in 3-point shooting. They will need their best shooting performance of the season to stay within the number, and even then it might not matter if the Tar Heels can just shoot their season-average from outside.
Give me the Tar Heels -13.5 as my best bet as they continue their excellent home play.
If you’re with me and want to take advantage of what I expect to be a blowout, head on over to WynnBET and make your bet now.
