When Sam Howell made the decision to forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the 2022 NFL draft, the future at quarterback for the UNC football program turns to either Drake Maye or Jacolby Criswell.

The Tar Heels are hoping that one of the two comes out and wins the job convincingly this Spring and be the guy for the next few years. But what about after that? UNC does have four-star quarterback Tad Hudson committed in the 2023 class as their first prospect. However, they have their eyes on a BIG prospect in the 2024 class.

Five-star prospect Jadyn Davis is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the entire 2024 class per the 247Sports rankings. He’s a prospect that has 11 offers including interest from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon and more. The Tar Heels are one of those teams that has offered the talented recruit and now they re receiving a visit.

Davis announced on Friday that he’s taking an official visit to UNC this weekend and will attend the basketball game on Saturday as well. That’s huge news for UNC as they get the chance to impress him.

The 6-foot, 185-pound quarterback hails out of Charlotte, North Carolina and plays for Providence Day School. He’s ranked as the No. 1 recruit across the board and is right there in UNC’s own backyard. While there are a few big programs involved already and more likely down the line, this is a recruiting battle that is important for the Tar Heels in the future class.

And early on, they get a shot to make a good first impression by getting him on campus this weekend.
