The UNC basketball program is looking for a 4-0 start to conference play and a date with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish is all that stands in the way.

The Tar Heels are three games into Atlantic Coast Conference play and remain unblemished on the season. They’ll look to keep that streak alive in a mid-week game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend.

The Tar Heels have been a bit up and down this season, but they’ve more or less won the games they should and lost the ones they should. Notre Dame, on the other hand, has been highly mercurial to this point in the season. They only lost to a talented Illinois team by 10 and beat a Kentucky team that clobbered North Carolina by 29 points, but also dropped a game to underachieving and undermanned Boston College.

The Tar Heels are one of the nation’s best three-point shooting teams and the Irish are one of the nation’s best all-around offensive units. North Carolina rebounds the ball at a better clip, which could help when it comes to getting extra opportunities on offense and capitalizing with second-chance points. Notre Dame is a terrific free throw shooting team, so they’ll look to take advantage at the charity stripe if North Carolina allows for it.

UNC vs. Notre Dame Injury Report

North Carolina will be without Dawson Garcia on Wednesday night, as the sophomore forward sustained a head injury two minutes into the Tar Heels’ game against Boston College on Sunday. They’ll also be without sophomore reserve Justin McKoy, who remains in COVID-19 protocols and doesn’t currently have a set date to return. And per the usual, Puff Johnson remains unavailable for the Tar Heels due to an ankle injury.

Notre Dame will enter the game with a pretty clean bill of health outside of junior guard Robby Carmody, who is expected to miss the entire season with a knee injury.

UNC vs. Notre Dame Odds: Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick

WynnBET’s college basketball odds list the Tar Heels as 2.0-point favorites against the Fighting Irish when the teams face off at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana. The money line has Notre Dame at +120 and North Carolina at -140, while the over/under is set at 144.5.

The two teams average a combined 149.6 points per game, and I look for this one to be closer to the high end than the low. I’ll definitely take the over on total points. I also look for the Tar Heels to win by more than two, though I think the spread will stay fairly tight throughout.
