Mack Brown and his UNC football team have gone to the transfer portal again to add to their roster for the 2022 season.

A few weeks after landing former Miami offensive lineman Corey Gaynor, the Tar Heels are adding another piece from the Atlantic Coast Conference. This time it’s on the defensive side of the football.

Former three-star recruit and Virginia linebacker Noah Taylor announced on Monday he is transferring to North Carolina for his final year of eligibility. The edge rusher entered the portal on December 6th and took a visit to UNC’s campus a few weeks back as well before making his decision.

The addition of Taylor is big for the Tar Heels after losing  Tomon Fox after the Duke’s Mayo Bowl this week. Fox has 28.5 sacks in his career and UNC will look to replace that production with a few different guys.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Taylor has appeared in 44 games, making 31 starts in his career with the Cavaliers. He’s recorded 170 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks and three interceptions in his career. He’s flashed his ability to get to the quarterback during his time with Virginia and the hope is that it translates over to his career in Chapel Hill.

UNC is continuing their preparation for their bowl game this week against South Carolina but this is certainly good news for the future of the roster, especially coming off another good recruiting class set to get on campus soon.
