While Hubert Davis and his UNC basketball staff continue to work through this 2021-22 season as well as future recruiting classes, they have their eyes on several recruits down the line.

The Tar Heels are set to turn in an impressive four-man class for the 2022 cycle and are now working on the 2023 and 2024 classes. Among the prospects the Tar Heels are targeting is in-state prospect Jarin Stevenson. The Chapel Hill native received his offer from UNC earlier this year and has since been on a few visits to the program.

He does have family ties to the university as his mother played at UNC under Sylvia Hatchell and his father played at Richmond in the 1990s. Stevenson is currently ranked as a Top 25 recruit in the early 2024 rankings and is starting to gain a lot of interest from programs.

As it stands now, Stevenson has a total of three offers all from Atlantic Coast Conference teams as UNC, N.C. State and Wake Forest have extended an offer. Virginia is also in the mix for Stevenson but he has yet to receive his official offer.

The 6-foot-9 forward recently chatted with Jamie Shaw of Rivals.com for the latest on his recruitment and where things stand. He broke down the four teams involved the most right now including North Carolina where he had this to say:

"North Carolina: “They want me to continue getting better. They tell me they know that I stand out now, but they want me to still stand out my senior year, even more.”"

It’s still very early in Stevenson’s recruitment right now with him being a 2024 recruit but it’s hard not to feel great about UNC’s chances early on. Having the family tie plus being right in UNC’s backyard are major pluses.

More and more teams will get involved with Stevenson, especially if he keeps up this hot play but UNC should stay in this thing until the end and have a good chance at landing him.

Next. Is this UNC target set to become the No. 1 recruit?. dark
