With just a few days until national signing day, Mack Brown and the UNC football program are ready to turn in another impressive class as they head into a pivotal offseason. After landing recent recruits over the past few months, many thought UNC was done.

That is until coaching changes and the transfer portal happened. As we sit here with just two days until the signing period starts, UNC might be on the verge of flipping a recruit from a fellow Atlantic Coast Conference foe.

Three-star safety Will Hardy decided to reopen his recruitment after Bronco Mendenhall left Virginia last month. While he stayed committed to the Cavaliers, he decided to hear from other programs, specifically North Carolina. And now after a visit over the weekend, it appears as if UNC has done enough to potentially earn a flip.

On Monday, two crystal ball predictions on 247Sports came in for the Tar Heels as national recruiting analyst Steve Wilftfong and Virginia insider Jacquie Franciulli both switched their predictions from the Cavaliers to the Tar Heels, a good sign moving forward.

Now, the crystal ball predictor isn’t always 100 percent right but the fact that a national analyst and someone who covers Virginia made the switch the day after Hardy’s visit at UNC concluded is saying something.

If UNC does land Hardy on Wednesday during the signing period, they will add to their No. 8 class with the 17th commitment here for 2022. Brown and his staff have done a fantastic job setting up this class including landing two five-star players as well as nine four-star players to help them climb the rankings.

Plus, there could be some more surprises in store in terms of the transfer portal for the Tar Heels soon.
