UNC Basketball: Grading Tar Heels’ game against Georgia Tech
R.J. Davis
Davis had his second-best scoring game of the season on Sunday, recording 23 points on an outstanding 8-of-11 shooting performance to go along with five rebounds and five assists. He also connected on 4-for-6 from three-point range and 3-for-3 at the free throw line, and was a star throughout against Georgia Tech in the Tar Heels’ first conference victory of the Hubert Davis era.
A
Caleb Love
Love really turned it on in the second half on Sunday on his way to 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. He was just 7-of-18 from the floor, but hit three of his five attempts from three-point range and contributed as much in this game as any other individual Tar Heel.
A
Brady Manek
Brady Manek came off the bench to give the Tar Heels 15 points, five rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes of play. He was 6-for-10 from the floor and hit three of his six shots from beyond the arc. When the UNC guards are playing as well as they were in this one and Bacot is a force down low, the Tar Heels become very difficult to stop when a guy like Manek can consistently knock down shots from the perimeter.
A
Armando Bacot
Bacot notched his third double-double in the last four games, going for 15 points and 13 rebounds against the Yellow Jackets. He added four assists, two steals and one block while shooting an excellent 7-of-11 for the game. He did commit a season-high five turnovers, but he was really solid overall and dominant in the low-post.
A-
Leaky Black
I don’t care what anyone says at this point. Leaky Black is having a really solid senior season, and his last two games are among his best. The senior forward had five points on a 2-for-2 shooting performance, two rebounds, one assist, one steal in 28 minutes of play. More importantly, he put together a fantastic defensive effort against the nation’s top scorer, Michael Devoe, who finished the game with just 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
