The UNC women’s basketball program moved to 7-0 on Wednesday night with a victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Big 10/ACC Challenge.

The North Carolina Tar Heels put together another impressive performance on Wednesday night in the Big 10/ACC Challenge, beating the Minnesota Golden Gophers at Williams Arena by a final score of 82-76. Their latest victory moves them to 7-0 on the season, currently the best record of any team in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Sophomore guard Alyssa Ustby put up gaudy numbers against the Golden Gophers, scoring a team-high 19 points on a 9-for-23 shooting performance to go along with 11 rebounds. Deja Kelly struggled with her shooting touch on Wednesday night (4-for-13), but she did connect on 6-of-7 free throws and score 15 points for the Tar Heels.

Senior Carlie Littlefield added 14 points, four rebounds and two assists for North Carolina, and Anya Poole had a 12-point, 16-rebound double-double. Kennedy Todd-Williams and Eva Hodgson both had 11 points, as six Tar Heels scored double-figure points in their victory over Minnesota. North Carolina hit 28-of-67 (41.8 percent) shots for the game, 5-of-15 (33.3 percent) from three-point range and 21-of-28 at the free throw line.

Minnesota was led by freshman forward Alanna Micheaux, who had a game-high 23 points on an ultra-efficient 8-for-10 shooting performance. She also hit 7-of-8 free throws, and pulled down seven rebounds off the Golden Gopher bench. Senior guard Deja Winters scored 17 points and Gadiva Hubbard added 14.

The Golden Gophers shot 27-for-70 (38.6 percent) for the game and 8-for-31 (25.8 percent) from long-distance. They also knocked down an outstanding 14-of-16 free throws, and had 17 assists on 27 made buckets. The loss drops them to 6-4 on the season.
