UNC Football Recruiting: Tar Heels offer four-star 2023 lineman
By Zack Pearson
Mack Brown and the UNC Football program will turn in another impressive recruiting class come December 15th and national signing day. As it stands now, UNC has a top 10 class including two five-star recruits and a handful of four-star recruits.
But even with that class coming in, the focus on 2023 is still there for the staff as well.
The Tar Heels have just one player committed in 2023, four-star quarterback Tad Hudson, and dozens of offers out. On Monday, the Tar Heels sent out their latest offer and it’s a big four-star defensive lineman.
Monteque Rhames announced on Monday that North Carolina is the latest team to enter his recruitment with an offer, making his total 10 so far:
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Rhames is a South Carolina native that is ranked No. 243 overall, No. 37 defensive lineman and the No. 4 player in the state per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He holds offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Louisville, Virginia Tech and N.C. State among others so far.
It’s early in his recruitment and he’s yet to take any visits but adding the UNC offer is big for the talented recruit and we could see him on campus eventually for an official.
The Tar Heels have found success under Brown in recruiting with their past few classes and the hope is that the trend continues moving forward. With the 2022 cycle wearing down, the focus will shift heavily to 2023 as the Tar Heels start to identify their biggest targets in the class.
