The UNC Football program ended their season on a disappointing note, blowing a nine-point lead with just over two minutes left at N.C. State on Friday. The loss dropped Mack Brown’s team to 6-6 on the year after they opened it up as the No. 10 ranked team in the nation.

While overall it was a disappointment, there were some bright spots for the program. And with the regular season over, the Tar Heels were well represented on the annual All-Atlantic Coast Conference teams.

The conference announced their teams on Tuesday and  six North Carolina players were named to the list led by wide receiver Josh Downs on the first team. Downs is the only UNC player on the first team after his record-breaking sophomore season.

Running back Ty Chandler was named to the second team on offense while Myles Murphy was named to the second team defense. The third team featured linebackers Tomon Fox and Jeremiah Gemmel, while safety Cam’Ron Kelly was also named to the team.

The Tar Heels also had a handful of players including quarterback Sam Howell, guard Joshua Ezeudu, guard Marcus McKethan, nose tackle Ray Vohasek, and defensive back Tony Grimes.

Downs, Grimes and Kelly are expected back barring any surprise move to the transfer portal but UNC could also get Ezeudu and McKethan back as well as they are weighing the option to return to the NFL. The duo did participate on Senior Day but could opt to return after an evaluation.

The focus now shifts to the bowl game for the Tar Heels as they await their opponent and destination.
