UNC Basketball: Grades for Tar Heels’ game against UNC Asheville
Kerwin Walton
Sometimes I’ll give decent grades for simply playing mistake-free basketball, but when a player’s overall impact on the game’s final score is so little, I just can’t. Kerwin Walton played his fewest minutes of the season on Tuesday night, logging just 15 and scoring a meager four points. That was, of course, better than his output against the Tennessee Volunteers over the weekend when he didn’t score a single point in 24 minutes on the court. He’s scored 10 points over his last 70 minutes on the court.

Anthony Harris
Similar to Walton, Anthony Harris didn’t play much against UNC Asheville, nor did he contribute anything substantial. He didn’t score or even take a shot, and played just 10 total minutes, recording one assist and one turnover. I can’t just chalk it up as an incomplete grade, though, because Harris is an experienced player and there are at least some expectations for him.

Justin McKoy, D’Marco Dunn and Dontrez Styles
It was nice to see Justin McKoy, D’Marco Dunn and Dontrez Styles get out on the court, but the three players only logged 11 minutes of playing time combined. We still just don’t have enough to really grade them for their performances, though I would like to give a shout-out to Dunn and Styles for getting their first buckets as collegiate athletes.
Incomplete
The Tar Heels will take the court again next Wednesday evening when they face off with the Michigan Wolverines at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Check back with Keeping It Heel for complete coverage of that game, and everything on the UNC basketball program.
