Armando Bacot

I’m not entirely sure that the Tar Heels would have beaten UNC Asheville without the performance of junior big man Armando Bacot. He had his third 20-point game of the season against the Bulldogs, shooting 8-of-14 from the floor and 6-of-7 at the free throw line. He also pulled down seven rebounds and had one block in 29 minutes of play.

He did miss a few close shots, was soft going up with the basketball ball a couple of times and committed a pair of turnovers, but it was his offensive output that, in large part, kept the Bulldogs at bay even when the score was a little too close for comfort. Bacot was the Tar Heels’ only consistent scoring threat against UNC Asheville, and when the lead was cut to just nine points midway through the second half, it was Bacot that scored nine points in a span of just one minute and 33 seconds.
