Grading every UNC basketball player for their performance against the UNC Asheville Bulldogs

The North Carolina Tar Heels beat the UNC Asheville Bulldogs on Tuesday night, snapping the two-game losing streak that saw them come away from last weekend’s Cheez-It Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament empty-handed. Similar to the three before it, it wasn’t the prettiest of victories. It will, however, go down in the win column all the same.

But the Tar Heels again struggled with many of the same things we saw plague them through the first couple weeks of the season. They continue to turn the basketball over at a high rate — 18 in a home game against the Bulldogs on Tuesday — surrendering far too many points to their opponents as a result. In addition to that, they’ve forced their opponent into fewer than 10 turnovers in four consecutive games, and have had more turnovers than assists in three straight.

So, their 19-point margin of victory over the Big South’s UNC Asheville isn’t quite indicative of what we watched on the court. They did get a solid performance out of junior center Armando Bacot, though, as he paved the way for his team’s 72-53 victory at the Dean Smith Center. His teammates, on the other hand, weren’t as sharp as they could have been, resulting in some low game grades for their respective performances against UNC Asheville.
