Former UNC basketball standout and National Player of the Year Antawn Jamison has been inducted into the National College Basketball Hall-of-Fame.

Former University of North Carolina standout Antawn Jamison is among eight individuals — both players and coaches — elected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2021 class.

Jamison, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, committed to the University of North Carolina out of Providence High School in Charlotte and was named a McDonald’s All-American in 1995. He spent three seasons with the Tar Heels where he became one of the most decorated players in program history, racking up more individual honors than just about anyone not named Tyler Hansbrough.

He averaged 22.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game during his decorated junior season at North Carolina. He scored the second-most points in program history that season (822) and pulled down a school-record 389 rebounds to become the first Tar Heel to average a double-double in better than two decades. His sensational junior season earned him a handful of prestigious awards including consensus first team All-ACC, ACC Player of the Year, ACC Male Athlete of the Year and National Player of the Year.

Across his three seasons in Chapel Hill, Jamison averaged 19 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. He compiled 1,974 points and 1,027 rebounds, and was a part of 83 victories and two Final Four appearances during that time. Following his early departure from the school in 1998, Jamison’s No. 33 was retired by the program — one of only seven numbers retired by the Tar Heels.

Jamison went on to have a successful 16-year NBA career with the Warriors, Mavericks, Wizards, Cavaliers, Lakers and Clippers. He played in nearly 1,100 professional games, scored better than 20,000 points and was one of the most well-liked players in the league throughout his tenure.

Congratulations to Antawn Jamison on his latest accomplishment, and here’s wishing him all the best in his post-playing career.
