The UNC Basketball program is off to a 2-0 start under Hubert Davis as they prepare for their first road game of the season on Tuesday, traveling to Charleston. And when they take on the Cougars, they will do so as the No. 18 team in the country.

In the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll that was released on Monday afternoon, UNC moved up one spots from No. 19 to No. 18 after their 2-0 start. That’s a fair ranking after UNC looked good in their first win over Loyola but then a little shaky as they had to hold on against Brown at home on Friday.

The Tar Heels jumped Ohio State in the rankings after the Buckeyes fell two spots despite being 2-0 on the year.

As for the top of the rankings, Gonzaga, UCLA and Kansas all held serve in the top 3 while Michigan moved up two spots to No. 4 and Villanova fell one spot to No. 5. Purdue moved up to No. 6 while Duke shot up two spots to No. 7.

UNC and Duke are the only two Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranked in this week’s poll with Virginia dropping out after a shocking loss to Navy to open the season. Virginia Tech (50), Florida State (15) and Syracuse (12) all received votes in the poll.

After this trip to Charleston, things get tough for UNC.

They are set to take on No. 6 Purdue in the Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic this weekend and will either face No. 5 Villanova or No. 17 Tennessee depending on the result. UNC also has No. 2 UCLA and No. 4 Michigan on their schedule for the non-conference season. That’s a VERY tough non conference schedule UNC will face early on.

Next. This player will be the next to commit to UNC. dark
