The UNC Basketball program will soon hit the court in November to usher in the Hubert Davis era after he took over for Roy Williams following last season. But already Davis has been able to make an impact off the court in recruiting.

The head coach landed four players for his 2022 class and recently picked up a five-star prospect in the 2023 class. Now, he has his eyes on other big recruiting targets including five-star forward G.G. Jackson.

The South Carolina native recently took a visit to UNC to attend Late Night With Hubert Davis as the unofficial tipoff for the new season. And now a week later, he’s raving about his visit.

Rivals recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw caught up with Jackson following his visit where he dished on the atmosphere of UNC and the Late Night Event. Here is what Jackson had to say about his visit:

"“It was a first for me, being in a college arena while the players were there with a crowd,” Jackson said about his most recent visit to North Carolina. “It was an amazing atmosphere. I had the legend, Roy Williams, behind me; I kept looking over my shoulder, but I didn’t want to make it weird. I got to see how their players play and how I could fit into the system. They get their big guys the ball a lot; they stretch out, get the rebounds and push it up the floor.”"

With Robert Dillingham likely being out of the picture for UNC in the 2023 class, Jackson has undoubtedly become the Tar Heels’ top target in that cycle.

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound Jackson is a five-star player who is ranked No. 10 nationally, No. 3 power forward and the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247 Sports composite rankings. He has a total of 13 offers so far and this race appears to be down to UNC, Duke and South Carolina here in the Fall.
