Former UNC basketball star Harrison Barnes continued his hot start to the 2021-22 season in a loss to the Utah Jazz.

After a lights-out performance in the Sacramento Kings’ first game of the season, Harrison Barnes continued his hot start to the 2021-22 NBA season with another excellent showing in game two.

In the Kings’ first home game of the season — a matchup with last year’s Northwest Division winner, the Utah Jazz — Barnes scored 25 points on a 9-for-20 shooting performance that included 2-of-6 from three-point range and 5-of-6 at the free throw line. And just two days after setting his career-high in scoring against the Portland Trail Blazers, Barnes pulled down a career-best 15 rebounds against the Jazz. Barnes’ points and rebounds on Friday night led all Kings, the second such time is as many games that he’s led the way scoring.

Granted it’s still very early in the season, and there’s no telling what will transpire in the coming months, but Barnes is averaging 30.5 points and 12 rebounds per game. His points are currently fifth-best in the NBA, and his rebounds rank 12th. Meanwhile, his PER (player efficiency rating) of 40.57 ranks 10th. He’s hitting an outstanding 58.8 percent of his three-point attempts on the season, and what would be a career-best 86.7 percent at the foul line.

Barnes and company will be back out on the court on Sunday night when they take on the undefeated Golden State Warriors at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
