Class of 2024 UNC basketball target Jarin Stevenson is gaining popularity on the recruiting trail.

Jarin Stevenson is the first and only class of 2024 prospect to receive a scholarship offer from the North Carolina Tar Heels. That, of course, will change in the coming weeks, as will Stevenson’s offer sheet that currently has just two schools on it.

It took just one visit with Stevenson for first-year head coach Hubert Davis to extend an offer. The meeting took place at the Dean Smith Center, where Stevenson and his parents watched the Tar Heels before meeting with Davis and some of the other UNC coaches. It was there, in Davis’ office, that the Roy Williams protégé made his pitch to Stevenson, and ultimately invited him to come join the Tar Heels in the fall of 2024.

"“He (Davis) said he’s seen a lot of video of Jarin and loves his game,” Stevenson’s father, Jarod, told 247Sports. “Plus, he really trusts Coach Lebo. He (Davis) expressed that, for such a young age and at Jarin’s size, he’s pretty agile. He can do a lot of things even though he’s pretty tall and pretty young. He’s thinks he’ll continues to progress and be a pretty good player.”"

Wake Forest joins North Carolina as teams to extend early scholarship offers to Stevenson, but the Virginia Cavaliers are also all over his recruitment. He visited the team’s Charlottesville campus earlier this week, taking in a scrimmage and talking with coaches and players. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cavaliers end up being a major player in his recruitment, but I also wouldn’t rule out the Tar Heels. Davis and his coaching staff are building a solid relationship early on with Stevenson and his family, and that’s never a bad thing.

Stevenson, a sophomore at Seaforth High School and a native of Pittsboro, North Carolina, is not yet ranked by any major recruiting outlets, as its still incredibly early in the process. Expect him to be somewhere near the top of those lists once it comes time to rank him — the 6-foot-8, 190-pound power forward is among the best at his position, and in the entire nation.
