While we still have a few more weeks until the 2021-22 college basketball season starts, it won’t be long before we see the UNC Basketball program on the court. On Friday, the team will scrimmage as part of the “Late Night With Hubert Davis” event in Chapel Hill and then will follow it up with a secret scrimmage next Saturday.

Per Jeff Goodman of Stadium, North Carolina is set to travel to Gainesville to play a “secret scrimmage” against the Florida Gators on October 23rd. Goodman published the list of secret scrimmages for every team participating, making them “not-so-secret” anymore. You can find that list here.

Over the years these scrimmages have become more and more popular. In the past you had to wait to find out who the team played after the program officially announced the details AFTER the event. But times have changed and now we know the opponents ahead of time.

For UNC, this will be a good chance to see how they matchup against a team from the SEC and a team that made the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Florida did lose some key pieces and might be a in transitional phase but they are still legit competition.

And that’s all you can ask for in a program with a first-year head coach hoping to bounce back from an early NCAA Tournament exit.

This also gives us the chance to see how Davis will use some of these rotations including his first starting lineup. The head coach has a lot of depth on his team with plenty of options to go to this year, so the rotations will be something to monitor all season long.

Next. Armando Bacot named to All American Fourth Team. dark
