The push to add their first commitment in the 2023 class for the UNC Basketball program continues on as Hubert Davis and his staff need to turn in a big class. So far, eight prospects have offers from North Carolina as part of that 2023 cycle and while more will come, the Tar Heels are zeroing in on some top players.

Among the players that are high on their list is five-star power forward G.G. Jackson out of Columbia, South Carolina.

Jackson is ranked as the No. 16 overall prospect, No. 3 power forward and No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247Sports composite rankings. He has a total of 13 offers, including landing one from UNC months ago.

The Tar Heels have been in pursuit of Jackson for a while now and are hoping to eventually land him as well as others in the class. But this recruitment could be coming down to a battle of programs in the Carolina’s.

In addition to North Carolina and South Carolina, it appears as if the Duke Blue Devils are starting to show more interest in Jackson as of late. Last week, Duke was in Columbia at Ridge View High School to watch the prospect practice:

Head coach in waiting Jon Scheyer, assistant Nolan Smith and associate Chris Carrawell were all spotted in attendance watching Jackson. The Blue Devils are among the 13 offers for Jackson but they really haven’t been considered a strong favorite. But that could change soon and if they decide to get involved, it’s another obstacle for Davis and his staff in their pursuit.

Jackson hasn’t tipped his hand much in terms of who the favorites really are or when a decision could be coming. But this is a recruitment to pay a lot of attention to this Fall.
