WATCH: UNC Football QB Sam Howell breaks six tackles for TD
By Zack Pearson
The UNC Football program is hoping to keep their win streak going on Saturday night as they are taking on Georgia Tech in the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. After a rough start losing to Virginia Tech in Week 1, the Tar Heels have rallied off two-straight wins including their first Atlantic Coast Conference game last week backed by the play of Sam Howell.
And they are off to a solid start in this one.
After the Tar Heels were forced to punt on their opening drive, quarterback Sam Howell was able to get UNC on the board on their second drive. However, it wasn’t with his arm.
Howell got UNC on the board with a 23-yard touchdown run as he showcased his running abilities, breaking tackles and getting by a few defenders. Watch the impressive run by Howell below:
The score is the third rushing touchdown for Howell on the season, an area he’s improved in big time. Howell focused on improving on his running skills all offseason and so far, it’s paid off. Going into this game, Howell ranked fourth among all quarterbacks in rushing yards.
The touchdown came just a few plays after UNC blocked a punt on special teams to give them great field position for their second drive. The offense took advantage of that as UNC now has a quick 7-0 lead in Atlanta vs. the Yellow Jackets in the first quarter.
